Around six (6) weeks ago, I published this post criticizing LinkedIn for not updating its Project Voyager Mobile App so LinkedIn members can customize or personalize their LinkedIn Connection Requests / LinkedIn Invitations.

I Made A Mistake. We can customize or personalize our LinkedIn Connection Requests / LinkedIn Invitations from our mobile phones.

Here are step-by-step instructions and screenshots for personalizing our LinkedIn Invitations from LinkedIn’s Mobile App.

Step 1: Consult LinkedIn’s Help Page on Personalizing and Customizing LinkedIn Invitations

I know this seems like an obvious step. But, I didn’t type in the best or right search terms when trying to answer my question in October 2015. Looks like like LinkedIn updated them in Spring 2015 — Ooopsies!

That’s okay. Live and Learn.

Here are LinkedIn’s specific instructions for personalizing and customizing LinkedIn Invitations from our mobile apps:

Step 2: Find The LinkedIn Member Profile You Want To Connect With From LinkedIn’s Mobile App

Let’s use Reid Hoffman’s LinkedIn Profile in our teaching example. Start with the Search Function in your LinkedIn Mobile App to find Reid’s profile and select it.

Step 3. Look For “The More Button” In The Top Right-Hand Corner Of Your Mobile Phone Screen

The Key Step. Focus on the three (3) little white circles in the top, right-hand corner of your mobile device. Remember LinkedIn’s instructions earlier?

This is what LinkedIn’s referring to when it says: “To the right of the search box, tap More.

Step 4.  Tap “The More Button” To Pull Up “Customize Invite” In The LinkedIn Mobile App

The “Customize Invite” prompt looks like this from your mobile phone:

Step 5: Customize Your LinkedIn Invitation From The LinkedIn Mobile App

Boom Baby! Now, you can customize your LinkedIn Connection Request from your mobile phone:

Bonus: Learn From The Best. Read THE BEST advice in customizing and personalizing our LinkedIn Connection Requests / LinkedIn Invitations from J.T. O’Donnell. Her tips are the industry standard.

LinkedIn Says Mobile Situations Still Exist When You Can’t Personalize Your Connection Requests.

Beware The “People You May Know” Feature AND/OR While Connecting From LinkedIn’s iPad Mobile App. According to the aforementioned LinkedIn instructions, we can’t personalize our LinkedIn Invitations / LinkedIn Connection Requests. When using these features, think first before requesting and sending your LinkedIn Invitation.
