I’m publishing this blog post to help every Apple Keynote user on the planet. I encountered this familiar problem last week when using the Keynote software last week: My text kept getting resized as I continued building my deck. A quick Google Search proves I shared this pain with countless users. 1,570,000 Google Search Results Pages (SERPs) can’t be wrong

Disable / Turn Off the Resize Text Command in Apple Keynote: 5 Painless Steps to Freedom!

The challenge in discovering the right steps is two-fold:

Here we go, so you can get back to work on your deck!

Step 1: Open the Inspector View in Your Keynote Presentation

Quick Note: I’m using Keynote Version 6.5.3. on a MacBook Pro.

You can pull up Keynote’s Inspector View from the Menu Bar using View -> Inspector:

View Inspector from Keynote Menu Bar

Or, you can use the MacBook keyboard shortcut command Option + Command + I (the letter i on your keyboard)

Step 2: Click Anywhere Inside Your Text Box or Highlight the Desired Text

Step 3: Look for the Layout Menu Tab Inside Inspector. It Looks Like This:

Important Note: Make sure you’re in The Format View or Format Menu of Keynote Inspector. You can get there by clicking this icon within Keynote Inspector: Format View in Keynote Inspector

Step 4: Click on the Layout Tab Within KeyNote Inspector

Step 5: In the Layout Tab, De-Select the “Shrink Text to Fit” Command

I hope that helps and allows you to get back to work quickly and efficiently. If you’ve got some tricks up your sleeve to make these instructions even clearer and more efficient for another Apple Keynote user, please describe them in the comments so I can pay it forward by updating this post.

Your Turn

Please let me know if you agree or disagree with my thoughts in the comments. I would love to hear from you. I’m here to read, listen, and learn from YOUR PERSPECTIVE.   Comments are open. So let’er rip!
